i From Our Own Correspondent.) KAIKOHE, Monday. The annu.il meeting of the Ray of Islands Rugby Union was held with the president (Mr. T. J. V. Duulop) in the chair. There was a good attendance. The ii i mini t tee's report and balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £83. The New Zealand Rugby Union, through the North Auckland Rugby Union, advistnl that A. P. < 'herrington had appealed against his being stood down for five years fur deliberate rough play and injuring a player, and asked for a copy of the evidence. A donation of £5 5/ was made to the Northland Sub-Unions Executive Committee. It was resolved to open the season on April 27. The annual meeting of the Matamata Referees' Association was held on Saturday night. Mr. W. Hollis presiding. The president suggested that it would be advantageous to refereeing in the Waikato if the parent body would arrange for an interchange of referee-;. This had been tried in Nr»rth Auckland, and had led to a more universal interpretation of the rules. It was decided to approach the Putarurn, Cambridge and Morinsville Unions on the matter.
