i From Our Own Correspondent.) KAIKOHE, Monday. The annu.il meeting of the Ray of Islands Rugby Union was held with the president (Mr. T. J. V. Duulop) in the chair. There was a good attendance. The ii i mini t tee's report and balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £83. The New Zealand Rugby Union, through the North Auckland Rugby Union, advistnl that A. P. < 'herrington had appealed against his being stood down for five years fur deliberate rough play and injuring a player, and asked for a copy of the evidence. A donation of £5 5/ was made to the Northland Sub-Unions Executive Committee. It was resolved to open the season on April 27. It was resolved that the ma naze went committee meet at Ohaeawai throughout the season. The vexed question "with which parent union shall the Waihou Club be affiiliated." was referred to the N.A.R. Union. The Waihou delegates were emphatic in their opinions that they desired to remain with the Bay of Islands Itugby Union, and not be transferred to the Ilokianga Union. It. was resolved that a seven-a-side tournament be held at Ohaeawai oil the King's Birtnday. The election of officers resulted : Patron, Mr. W. A. Pearson ; president. Mr. T. J. V. The annual meeting of the Matamata Referees' Association was held on Saturday night. Mr. W. Hollis presiding. The balance-sheet showed a credit uf £ I 7/6 in the gorieral account a.Tcl £ 1 12/1 in the travelling account. The latter is financed by the Mara mata Union, oflicers elected were: — President. Clover; delegates to the Waikato Referees' Association, Messrs. W. Clover and W. Mollis. The president suggested that it would be advantageous to refereeing in the Waikato if the parent body would arrange for an interchange of referee-;. This had been tried in Nr»rth Auckland, and had led to a more universal interpretation of the rules. It was decided to approach the Putarurn, Cambridge and Morinsville Unions on the matter.

A challenge was received from the Te Puke Rugby Sub-Union for the Te Huru-nui-Apanui Memorial Shield, and the march against the holders (Opotikl) -was set to be played at Opotiki on June S.
