THE AVONDALE MEETING.

PROGRAMME FOR TO-MORROW.

THE FIELDS REVIEWED.

The autumn meeting of the Avondale * Jockey Club wil be concluded at Avon- ( dale to-morrow. Good fields are cn- ' gaped in the ma jority of the events, and i given fine weather tlie racing should be c good throughout. e The Hurdle Race. s The programme will open with the 1 Hobsonville Hurdles, for which ten are s engaged. Pouri has not raced for some ] time, but he is a good jumper and c stayer, and will see out the two miles all right. King's Guard was a starter in the Brighton Hurdles, two miles, at Ellerslie at Easter time, but he failed to get into the money. However, as that was his first race for some time, he may ] be an improved horse to-morrow. Potoa- 1 nui finished second in the Mangere, ' Steeplechase in his last effort, while Raniblin' Kid fell at the first hurdle in the Brighton Hurdle race. Clockwork won the Brighton Hurdle race, and finished third in the Avondale Hurdles on ' Saturday. The extra, distance should suit him better. Komak was second to Roman Abbey on Saturday, while Kilburn finished second in the Brighton Hurdle race to Clockwork and has about 51b the better of the weights now compared with Clockwork. Of the others, Boomerdav may do best. The chief fancies may be KILBURN CLOCKWORK KING'S GUARD The Dominion Handicap. There is a good field numerically engaged in the Dominion Handicap, a hack event run over seven furlongs. Arihana won so well over a siimlar distance on Saturday that, with a rise equal to about a stone, comparing the minimum each day and his respective imposts, he should be in the limelight again. Archileen was third to Arihana and Measurer, giving Arihana 11J lb and Measurer 14$lb. Now she is meeting Arihana on level terms, and only has to give Measurer 81b. Loving Cup, who showed up for a good way, is in a bit lighter on the scale used than on Saturday. Katuscha failed to show np on Saturday, but Diamond Queen ran a fairly good race, finishing fourth. Gold Lily was one of the leaders into the straight in the Maiden Handicap on Saturday and finished fifth, and she should be improved by the race. The public may give most support to ARIHANA diamond QUEEN The Two-YeaT-Olds. Gemlight, who heads the list in the Nursery Handicap, won the Victoria Handicap at Ellerslie. and will have some friends to-morrow. Pellette showed up in the same race till the straight was reached, finishing fifth. Bennie won the Onslow Stake* at Ellerslie on the opening d»y, but was beaten in the Victoria Handicap. Royal Finance has a lot of speed, but went off after her arrival, and could not be started at Ellerslie. She would only need to be at her best to have a chance. Motere and Lady Svxanne may be the best of the others. Most money may go on GEMLIGHT ROYAL FINANCE BENNIE The Waitakere Handicap. King Lu, who is top-weight in the Waitakere Handicap, has also another engagement in the following race, the Autumn Handicap, and whichever he starts in he is sure to run a good race. He won nicely oh Saturday and at 9.11 will be one of the prime fancies if reserved for this event. Lorient 11. has raced well over seven furlong 3, while Hipo showed that he was back to form by finishing Becond to Ohinemuri in the Titirangi Handicap on Saturday. Billikins was prominent for a good way in the Railway Handicap on Saturday, while Good Boy finished second to Kawainga in the Oakley Handicap. British King was unlucky in the latter •vent and with the minimum to-morrow should run well. Whaka King was one of the leaders till the straight in the Railway Handicap on Saturday, finishing fifth, and should do better in this event. Mithra ran a very fair race in the Islington Handicap at Ellerslie being well up for most of the way. She was a good two-year-old and would only need to strike her best form to have a chance. Sir Russell also ran a very fair race in the same event and finished fifth in the Titirangi Handicap on Saturday. Perhaps the best backed will be KING LU LORTENT IT. BRITISH KING The Chief Event. The Autumn Handicap is the chief event of the day. King Lu won so well on Saturday over six furlongs thai with 8.12 he should take some beating in this event if started. Branson led for about • mile in the Foley Memorial Handicap on Saturday and is pretty well just now. Flying .Tuliet is good at a mile and ran a very fair race in the Foley Memorial on Saturday for more than that distance. High Pitch won that event and previously he had proved himself a good mile horse. White Fang has been racing well though rather unluckily, and his chances cannot be discounted. Stormy beat High Pitch and King Lu over a mile at Ellerslie last week and both the lastmentioned wV'i at Avondale on Satuidav. Stormy was giving High Pitch 101b and King Lu had to give Stormy 171b. Now High Pitch has to allow Stormy 21b and King Lu has to give him 101b. 'On that performance Stormy will have to be considered. In the Shade dtsappointed at Ellerslie, while of the others Lady's Bov and Eager Rose may be the best. When the machine closcb the chief fancies may be KING LU STORMY HIGH PITCH The Sprinters. Onlv seven have been accepted for in the Mount Eden Handicap. Lady Quex was third in the Railway Handicap on Saturday with 8.10, being just beaten for second place by Subdivision, whom st is now meeting on 21b better terms. T e latter, who is also engaged in this race, Will have tome support after h» gooa

finishing effort on Saturday. Chelone nay do batter in the smaller field. Value should also he improved by her race, while British King, if reserved for this event, may be a possibility. The best backed may be LADY QUEX SUBDIVISION VALUE The Mount Roskill Handicap. Seventeen have been paid up for in the Mount Roskill Handicap. Air King has been racing well recently and won on Saturday. Good Boy was a bit unlucky on Saturday, while Black Maire was prominent in the Chevalier Handicap during the early stages. Respirator finished second in the Chevalier Handicap on Saturday. This was a six-furlong event, and he should be better suited by the distance to-morrow. Kawaingu scored over a mile on Saturday. Brilliant Light is a promising hack and has shown good form up to six furlongs; while of the others Grand Tea, Bizarro and War Officer may be the best. Most of the investments may go on RESPIRATOR KAWAINGA BLACK MAIRE The Concluding Event. The meeting will conclude with the Morningeide Handicap and. taking recent form as a guide, the public will probably give most support to LE CHOUCAS OHIXEMURI WENDAY

There will be a frequent train service to the course.

In his last couple of starts Brilliant Light put up two fair performances, and he looks a possibility in the Mount Roskill Handicap to-morrow. He is an improving hack, of whom the best has probably not yet been seen, and it would not surprise to see him in the firing line at the finish of the mile hack race at Avondale.

While contesting the Chevalier Handicap at Avondale last Saturday Buiolo spread himself and will not be a starter on the concluding day of the meeting. The happening is unfortunate for his owner (Mr. A. D. Potter), as the Bisogne gelding had been doing exceptionally well in his work and gave promise of being an early winner. Buiolo is engaged at the Whangarei meeting, but owing to the mishap he will not race at that fixture.
