FAREWELL RECEPTION.

LYCEUM CLUB AT HUM I-

The Lyceum Club was en fete last | evening when the president and members met together to say farewell to Mrs. W. K. Bush, who is leaving for Brisbane at the end of this week. The guest of the evening was met at the entrance by the president. Mrs. W. H. I'arkes. who was handsomely gowned in peacock green velvet with panels of gold tissue appli(|ued with autumn | tints. Mrs. Bush was in navy crepe de chine and tulle with rose pink shawl, and on her entrance was presented with a beautiful bouquet composed of deep red dahlias, single red chrysanthemums and old gold chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern, tied with old gold ribbon. The president, in rising to bid Mrs. Bu-h farewell in the name of the club, said that the representative gathering which she saw before her was a tribute and a testimony to the fine work which had been done for the Lyceum Club ever since its inception by Mrs. Bush, who was leaving them to take up her residence in Brisbane. With her: she carried the affection of her fellow members and their regret at losing her I from their midst. She had ever been j an active and loyal member from the earliest days and when she was put on • the executive had worked loyally hand in hand with the club, and her support on the financial committee had been invaluable. Mrs. I'arkes then, in the name of the club, handed to Mrs. Rush a beautiful putty kid handbag with the owner's initials engraved on the silver handle, and the members all sprang to their feet and sang "For She s a -lolly Oood Fellow"' till tliev made the rafters ring again. Mrs. Bu.-h, who was visibly touched, thanked the club for its fine welcome and said that outside her own family the cluh had been the greatest tiling that had happened in her life. When she took a trip to America with Mr. Bush .-lie saw for the fir>t time what American women could do. and came back determined that she would a.-sist to do the «ame. The club was then being formed and she had aiwavs taken a keen interest in its welfare."
