PRESENTATION.

THE REV. <>. B. HINTON

The Rev. fi. B. Hinton. for the last four years in charge of the Takapuna Methodist Church, was last evening farewelled by his congregation, as he is leaving for Dunedin to supervise the Methodist Mission at the Octagon. Mr. T. B. Arthur, local circuit steward, made a presentation to Mr. Hinton of a cheque, and in suitable terms expressed the appreciation of the church at Mr. Hinton's labours in the district. A presentation was also made by Mr. B. Collins of a silver entree dish to Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Arthur, to mark the relinquishment of Mr. Arthur of his office as circuit steward. The Rev. H. L. Richards, of Nelson, has assumed the charge of the Takapuna Methodist Church, and will commence his ministry there immediately.

At a meeting of the New Zealand Institute of Marine and Power Engineers held in the room®. o'">y Street, on Saturday evening the gold emblem of the institute was presented to Mr. S. .1. Weston, late chief engineer of tb» Clansman. Mr. Geo. Smith, a past president. spoke in high terms of the recipient. who had been associated with the institute for 45 years and had been *27 years chief of one ship. Mr. Weston suitably replied.
