(By TelegTaph.—Special to " Star.™)

CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Conditions -wore very unpleasant for training operations at Riocarton this morning. A dense fog enveloped the course 'when the trainers arrived icitli their teams. There was some delay before operations were commenced, and though the fog lifted slightly about 6.30, the improvement was only temporary, as a thick mantle descended again a little later, and it was still in evidence after breakfast, hut it cleared gradually after that, and timing conditions were fairly good for the last few gallops. Lancer and Oriffamb were companions over a mile on the course proper. Quarterdeck and Prickles galloped seven furlongs on the plough. Prickles being slightly in front at the finish. Hurly Burly covered seven furlongs on the plough by herself. Arrowshield and Caterpillar were given a sprint on the course proper. Noteworthy covered six furlongs on the plough in 1.19. Pink Note and Battle Colours were associated over 6even furlongs on the course. They kept together all the way. and Battle Colours had a slight advantage at the finish. The time occupied was 1.28, an attractive performance. Kin Tin Tin galloped seven furlongs on the course by herself in 1.29. Starshooter occupied 1.31 for seven furlongs on the course. Disorder and Straightcourse were together at the end of a five-furlong spin on the plough. Sudden Storm did half pace work on the plough, while Impertinence and Swoopalong got through a similar task. Count Cavour and Amor were companions in a mile gallop on the plough, which they covered in 1.45 3-5, after doing the first two furlongs in 26 l-ss. They kept together all the way, finishing on terms, with Amor doing quite a< well as his mate at the end of a useful gallop. Rapier went twice round on the plough at half pace. Stately ran five furlongs on the course. Paperchase covered seven furlongs on the course in 1.28 3-5. and was going well at the finish. Aberfeldy (I. Tilson) gave a good display in a school over four hurdles. Chide was restricted to half pace work on the plough. He has been suffering from a chill for a few days, but is on the me*d. Great Star had Bon Raid as a mate in a half-mile sprint up the back. After breakfar-t all the galloping wa = done on the course. Winsome Boy and Desert Song were associated in a fivefurlong spin, the former finishing half a length in front in 1.5. Gay Sonnet ran five furlongs alone, but the fog was too thick at the time to enable her to be seen. Louise had the assistance of Countersign over the last five of seven furlongs, which she covered, ill 1.32 1-5. Royal Saxon beat Moratorium in u five-furlong spin in 1.3. Silver Paper reeled off five furlongs in 1.2. He showed great brilliancy, and was going on well at the end. It was a very attractive performance, which was entirely pleasing in view of his engagement in the Great Easter Handicap, in which he looks like being a very hot favourite. Nightmarch and Beau Geste were companions over seven furlongs, taking 1.18 for the last six. The two-vear-olds, Blue Metal and M iss Night Raid, sprinted half a mile attractively in 49 l-ss.
