STOLE FROM PATIENT.
PORTER AT INFIRMARY. When Graham Crosier (21), formerly a porter employed at the Auckland Infirmary, was discharged on February 28, he was short of a suitcase. So he took the first one he could find, after he had hidden the contents in an old chimney. This morning, at the Police Court, Crozier pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing the suitcase and contents, valued at £5, the property of one of the inmates. Chief Detective Hammond said nearly all the contents had been recovered. Accused had never been in trouble before. Restitution of 10/ would have to be made.
The magistrate, Mr. F. H. Levien, admitted Crozier to probation for 12 months and made an order for restitution. "Probation means that you will show you are made of something better than thieves are made 0f, ,, he added.
