Big Surplus On Fiscal Year's Work. TAVOURABLE TRADE BALANCE. (Australian Pr#*s Assn.—United Service.) (Received 10 a.m.) OTTAWA, March 1. For the fiscal year ending March 31 Canada has a net surplus of £13,956,400. Hon. J. A. Robb, Minister of Finance, announced on Friday when presenting the Budget to Parliament tbst the net debt was also reduced by £14,000,000 and that there was a favourable trade balance of £30,800,000 for ten months of the fiscal year. He also stated that 42 per cent o# the total expenditures was attributable to war obligation*. No direct reference Vas made to the fiscal policy of the United States, but the Minister referred to Canada's increasing foreign trade in a iray which suggested that Canada ha* adopted the policy of "watchful waittag."
