CANTERBURY JOCKEY CLUB.

SUMMER MEETING FEBRUARY 23. GOOD ACCEPTANCE LIST. TO-MORROW'S FIELDS REVIEWED. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The Canterbury Jockey Club's summer meeting will be held at Riccarton tomorrow. The fields are large and mostly local, though there will be a few visitors to add to the interest. The field for the Hornby Handicap, the opening event, is of mi \vd class. In spite of his Wingatui failures Toawai will be fancied, as he continues to gallop well in his work. Star Raid would be dangerous if he would race up to his training form, but Zeuxis may be the best of the others. Chide is the outstanding horse in the Trial Stakes —judged on his track work he is a good deal above this class. Rigmarole should run well, but she does not look like lieating Chide. With eight, liofses engaged, the Middle Park Plate shapes like being the most interesting event of the meeting. Goblin Market has shown useful form this season without winning, and he should race well. In Pink Coat, however, he will meet a two-year-old of more than average class. Courtlike is a recent winner, but without special claims to notice. Semper Paratus may not be at his best, though he is a promising colt. Two other maidens, Stately and Comique, have shown speed on the tracks. Pink Coat and Goblin Market may carry most money. Class is well represented in the Midsummer Handicap. Rapier should be a better horse as a result of his two races at the Dunedin meeting last week, and he may be favourite. Hoj'lake will find the hard track against him, and Count Cavour may suffer from a similar disability, though he has been galloping well in his work. Battle Colours is a possibility. Beau Geste disappointed at Wingatui. Pride may not be quite ready, though she would be dangerous at her best. Prickles failad to show up at Wingatui, but she may do better in this small field.

The field for the Lvttelton Plate is made up chiefly of maidens. Courtlike and Belcaire being the only winners. Belcaire has been galloping smartly, and she or Jaleux may be equal to winning. Crown Area, who heads the list in the Craven Plate, must have a chance in spite of his big weight. Meadow Lark is in good form, but is now set to carry a decent load, which will trouble liim. Paperchase disappointed, at the Dunedin meeting, and will need to improve to win. Sudden Storm has been galloping well, and she must be considered serfously. Among the others the speedy First Raid reads well. He and Sudden Storm will keep the top weights busy. The Halswell Hack has attracted nineteen acceptors, the largest field of the' day. Great Star is a brilliant galloper and he should be favourite. Starshooier is an improving sort, hut Impertinence looks certain to run well.

There are several horses in the Post Handicap who have recent form to recommend them. Amor has been doiny well, and may bo in the money agaii" Full Feather has a good chance, and he may start favourite. Paquito may show up and cause these two some trouble. r J he list of acceptances is: — HORNBY HANDICAP of 200sovs. Nine furlongs. St. lb. of ik Aberfeldy . . 10 2 L.
