PEDALLING TO WELLINGTON.

BREWIN'S LONG RIDE. ATTEMPT 0N T "BIKE" RECORD. With only two friends to wish him good luck, H. (i. Brewin, the well-known amateur cyclist, left the Auckland post office at one o'clock this morning in an attempt to lower the cycle road record from Auckland to Wellington. Brewin, who will be joined at Hamilton by J. C. Stewart, will ride through Te Kuiti. New Plymouth and Wanganui. He hopes to cover the 481 miles in approximately 43 hours, a time that will pet him to Wellington before 8 o'clock to-moirow evening. The present "bike" , record for the journey is held by A. Sutherland, who went over the long distance during bad weather in 73 hours.
