PLAZA THEATRE

'■The Man That Laughs" will £o to the Tivoli and Everybody'* Theatre*! tomorrow, a new programme taking the place of this popular picture drama at the Plaza. A double feature programme has been arranged, the main attraction being "The Crash, -, in whiuh Milton Sills is said to be at his beet. This Iβ an adaptation by Charles Kenyon of Irank Packard's successful story, '"The Wrecking Boss," and deals with the love between the head of a wrecking crew and the prim a donna of a travelling burteeque troupe. There is a train ema&h that has the thrills and terror of an actual happening, and the wrecking train coining to the rescue. Sille takes the part of the wrecking boss and has much scope to show hie ability as an actor. Beautiful Miae Todd has the role of a burlesque dancer, who later marries the boee and settles down; then circumstances create discord and near tragedy. "Phyllis of the Follies," is the second feature. This is an unusual picture in that i<t contains but one exterior shot. Phyllis is a bright sophisticated chorus girl and her private life ie laid bare. Alice Day takes the title role, and playing opposite ie Matt Moore. lalyan Tashman has also a big part. This offetage comedy drama proceeds rapidly through many humorous situations, and should appeal to picture patrons of the Plaza.

CRYSTAL PALACE. "The Forbidden Woman" will be the main picture at the Crystal Palace Theatre, Mount Eden, to-night and tomorrow. The etory ie one of brother love, with Jetta Goudal and "Victor Varconi in the leading roles. "The Sky Skidder" ie the second feature. It is an air film with the famoue Al Wileon doing more of hie thrilling feate. This devil-may-care actor who ia known ae "the human bird," has brought eoine fine "etunt" flying acte to the screen, and there is always an interesting romance interwoven. King Vidor's great epoch of peace time struggles against poverty, 'The Crowd," which ie now eh owing at the Hippodrome Theatre, ie a production of exceptional merit. Thie picture was filmed against backgrounds extending from California to New York, and has scenes on the beaches iof both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Eleanor Boardman, who appeared opposite John Gilbert in 'Bardelys the Magnificent," is seen at the height of her career as Maiy, and James Murray, a few months ago an extra man, gives proof that he is a natural actor, who is fast mounting to fame. The cast ie strong throughout. An additional feature is Jetta Goudal in "The Forbidden Woman." ALLAN WILKIE SEASON.
