PARAKAI STORE BURNED.

It is -tateu that a 0111break occurred in tile building at a'tmiu 1.30 a.m.. but the tire was thought to have been extinguished before Mr. I'dv retired for the night in his house next door. At six o'clock, when he was awakened by a neighbour, the store was a mass of flames and within half an hotir the building and *?n<k were tolallv destroyed. The stock and building ansa id 1o have been insured for a small amount. A far-reaching result of the fire was that the electric power was cm oil" for about half an hour, a jio>t being practically burnt through, and fanners 01 the district had to milk bv hand.
