I SECOND RACE SAILED. AVALON LEADS ALL THE WAY. EILEEN" EIGHTY SECONDS BEHIND. (By Telegraph.- -Own Correspondent.) AKAROA, Friday. Leading all the way, Avalon, Auckland's representative, won the second race in the Sanders Cup series this afternoon. Eileen was second, eighty seconds behind, and Clyde, which won the flm race this morning, was last. The race was sailed over a triangular course of nine miles. There was a fresh south-west, breeze and all the boats carried their medium weight crews of four. Eileen was first away, followed by Avalon, Colleen, Murihiku and Clyde. Soon after clearing the line Murihiku fouled Colleen, which was on the starboard tack. Avalon, which carried a leader in place of a working jib, slowly drew away, and was the leading boa"t after five minutes' sailing. . The times round the mark were: Avalon 3h 22m 10s; Murihiku, 3h 23m 30s; Eileen. 3h 23m 555; Clyde. 3h 28m 10s; Colleen, 3h 24m 355. On the run to the second mark Avalon and Murihiku lost time by mistaking the direction of the mark, Eileen being first to alter her course for it. Avalon rounded only 25s ahead of Eileen. The first round was completed as follows: Avalon, 3h 41m 3os; Eileen,.3h 42m 255; Murihiku, 3h 435; Colleen, 3h 43m 12sClyde, 3h 43m 20s. On the second round Avalon continued to gain slowly, and the lound times were:—Avalon, 4h 13m 535; Eileen, 4h 15m 455; Colleen. 4h 16m 20s; Murihiku 4h 17m 18s; Clyde, 4h 18m. No alteration took place in the final round and the finish was: — Avalon 4h 46m 10s Eileen 4h 47m 30s Colleen „ 4h 49m 40s Murihiku 4h 50m 20s Clyde 4h 50m 52s The winning crew was Willetts (skipper), F. Cloke, I. Larritt and Fogelbery. At a meeting of delegates held this evening it wa s decided to hold the third race to-morrow, starting at 10 a.m., and. if necessary, two races on Monday. It was also decided to mark the* course by launches standing by each mark. It was decided on Mr. A. Moffett's motion that it be a recommendation for future contests that Sanders Cup races be run off without a break. The measurer* reported that all sails eonformed to the required measurements, and the secretary reported that certificates had been received from Colleen Murihiku and Clyde, and were in order.' Mr. Wilkinson again brought up the matter of remits sent in last June by the secretary of the Auckland Association. All the delegates were unanimous that no, such ,remit* Jiad - been, received by their respective associations. The matter was finally dropped.
