TROTTING CLUB FINANCE

REQUEST BY HAMILTON.

"TWO EXTRA DAYS." STATEMENT BY MINISTER. (Br Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. The Hon. de la Perrelle inspected the Waikato Trotting Club and Hamilton Racing Club courses this morning. The Minister Was asked by the Trotting Club to grant two extra days' racing in view of financial obligations which the club has to face. It was stated that £4000 had been spent in the last three years improving facilities on the course, which was now equal to that of any club outside the cities.

The Minister said he could make no promise, but Hamilton's claims would not be overlooked when the next allocations were made. He realised that many clubs were hard pressed for finance, but he could promise no reduction of taxation until the Government saw how the country was standing in regard to revenue, which had to be obtained. He was considering, however, means of assisting racing clubs by other means than through the medium of taxation.
