Bombay is quiet after the recent riots in which 137 were killed and 783 injured. Police and military forces fired fourteen times.

SALE OF U.S. SHIPS.
SENATE KEEPS CLEAR
(Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) (Received 9.30 a.m.) WASHINGTON, February 14. The Senate Commerce Committee has decided not to interfere with the proposed sale of United States lines and the American merchant line of ships. The Shipping Board is. now free to proceed with the sale.
On February 11 a message received from Washington stated that the United States Shipping Board had accepted a tender of £3,200,000 for eleven Government-owned liners, including the Leviathan. The tender was from a Chicago banking firm, and was the highest received. The lowest was for £1,200,000, and came from the International Mercantile Marine. It was estimated that the cost of replacement of the vessels would be £25,400,000.
