YOUNG MAN'S ARREST. SERIOUS CHARGES PREFERRED "SJ'EXT £400 IX A MONTH." POLICE OBTAIN A KE.MAXD. Arrested by Detective Hunt yesterday, Bartholomew Mcllroy, alias Jack Norwood (22), attired ill a smart douhleliruasted light prey suit, appeared before .Mr. \V. K. McKcan. S.M., at the Police Court this morning on .a variety of serious charge-. Mcllroy was charged with (stealing a hank honk ami £.'IOO. the property of one. Kroniti. on .January 12; stealing a motor car valued at £.'>.">(>, belonging to Bert Shorter; theft of two gramophones, valued at £12 and £7 10/, the properly of the Farmers' Union Trading Company. Limited, and Wadtt and Company, respect holy, and also the theft of 000 dollars belonging to Kronin. Chief Detective Hammond obtained a remand until February Js. "This young man has been making a big splash," said Mr. Hammond. "After stealing a hank book he forged a signature an<l obtained £■'100, while ho stole a motor car and sold it for £100. He put on champagne suppers jiiicl within a month ho got through £400. When arrested he only had 4/7 on him.*'
