Tuesday
A boy of eight, John McXab McCowan, went to play at Mount Maunganui after pchool yesterday, and failed to return home. His parents became anxious, and residents made an all-night search anion" the scrub and on the beaches.
This morning the boy's body was discovered lm.ler the railway wJiarf at tin; Mount, with the neck broken. Jt is surmised that the boy fell from the wharf, struck a wooden landing and dropped into the water, no one witnessing thj accident.
