DEFEAT OF W. T. TILDEN,
(Australian Press Assn.—United Service.) (Received 10.30 a.m.) NEW YORK, February 12. J. Van Ryn, who on Monday defeated F. T. Hunter, 2—6, 7—5, 7—5, at the Brooklyn Heights Casino indoor invitation lawn tennis tournament, on Tuesday defeated W. T. Tilden in the final, 6—l, 6—4, &—2.
This was Tilden"s first appearanoe in tournament play after his reinstatement. ,T. Van Ryn was beaten in 1927 by the French player Bnignon in the semi-final of the American covered courts championship singles.
