BOARD MEETS IN WELLINGTON
VISITS FROM DIRECTOR

The Town Planning Board met. yesterday. .Many requests were received from local authorities for visits from the Director of Town Planning, and it was resolved that where possible all be given effect to. The Hon P. A. de la Perrelle, Minister of Internal AlFairs, opened the meeting.
It was decided to seek the fullest cooperation of the Press. The director is to attend the Municipal Conference at Wanganui in March to lay before them the policy of the board in regard to regional planning. He will also address meetings in various towns as time and opportunity permit.
The principle of the preparation of regional schemes was approved. Consideration on a number of provisional schemes was adjourned pending further elaboration by the board and the consideration of the Government regarding the possible amendment of the Town Planning , Act.
With respect to regional planning in the meantime, local authorities are to be asked to proceed more actively with the preparation of civic surveys. The board will m<|c%.ery two months.
