FRANKTON STOCK SALE.
BEEF PRICES LOWER
Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Hamilton, report having held their usual weekly stock sale at the Frankton saleyards on Tuesday, 12th inst., as under: — There was a large yarding of beef, and prices generally were lower. Litrht weight fat steers sold at up to £10 15/; prime young cow and heifers made up to £11 7/6; ordinary fat cows and heifers. £7 1.1/ to £!) 7/8; light fat cows, £6 5/ to £7 7/0; store steers, £9 15/; bulls, £8, £6. £5 to/.
There was a very large yarding of sheep. Our entry comprised 4184 of all classes, and 3;W) were sold under the hammer at the following prices. The demand for good class ewes and store lambs was good, inferior <>wes being somewhat lower. Prime fat wethers (heavy), made up to 26/3; fat owes, 21/ to 22/6; forward ewes, 20/1; 130 shorn medium sized Romney cross ewe lambs, 21/; 137 shorn wether lambs, 18/3; 90 cull shorn lambs, 14/; 100 woolly forward lambs, 20/3; 36 rull lambs, 13/6; 70 small woolly lambs. 186: 4f> shorn cull lambs. 13 6; 76 woolly lambs, 21,6: 17 small woolly lambs. 18'9; 54 mixed two-tooths, 25/; 62 cull mixed aged ewes, 17/; 204 mixed aged ewes. 28/; 296 four and five-year ewes. 27'; 120 cull ewes, 13/10; 107 cull ewes. 16/3: 184 cull ewes, 15/; 180 four, six and eight-tooth ewes (good), 28/; 552 s.m. ewes. 22/6; 230 p.m. ewes, 25/; 216 small mixed aged ewes, 18/3; 203 ewes. 18/6.
A large yarding of fat and store pigs. Fat pigs again improved in value. Best prime bacoiiers-, £3 5/ to £3 17/; medium ditto. £2 15/ to £3 1/: heavy porkers, £2 8/ to £2 12/; light porkers, 38/ to £2 '1': large stores, 30/ to 37/; slips, 18/ to 25/; weaners, 8/ to 12/; others, 2/ to 5/.
EWES SELL WELL. The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd.. report as follows:—We had it gnod yarding of beef, ox beef selling at late rates, but cow beef showed a slight decrease in value. Sheep were yarded in large numbers. Fat sheep, of which we had a large entry of ewes, sold at la-te rates. We also had a large entry of breeding ewes, and although in some cases the quality was not too good, we were able to clear the whole of the yarding at very satisfactory prices. A liPiivy yarding of good quality fat pigs came forward, buyers operating freely -at advanced rates. The store pig market was weak, and they were hard to quit. We
