EXAMINATION OR ACCREDITING?
In mo-t of the criticism levelled at the matriculation examination the complaint has been that a uniform standard could not be maintained in judpin;; the papers. "T.irpeiaV writes: "A pn..fo«sor and assistant* mark the papers in a certain sui.ieet. How can aa objective standard pos-;|,!v be maintained?" The remedy Usually suggested and that advocated by "Tarpeian" is the accrediting svstem. The result would be that each headmaster an-i headmistress ut all the pram mar and hips schools throuirhout New Zealand would have to set his or | 10r o ivn standard. To the ordinary individual the evil would seem to lie aggravated rather than otherwise. Would '•Tar].oian'' kindly exidain t.. ITZZLED?
