THUMB SEVERED.
ACCIDENT TO GIRL
Sadie Lappin, a twelve-year-old girl residing at Birkenhead, suffered an einjury to her thumb yesterday. Her brother was chopping a box with'an axe. and the girl, putting out her hand, received almost the full force of the blow, which nearly severed the top of her thumb. She was taken to the Auckland Hospital, where the amputation was completed. This was carried out in the casualty ward, and the patient allowed to return to her home.
