The improved tone ot tho stock market locally, manifested a fortnight ago. was maintained yesterday at Messrs. Alfred Buckland and Sons regular eale, wlwii pliers generally were firm, with tho exception of those for bnllg for canning purpose*. Quotations are:— Dairy Cattle.—Best cows and heifer* close to and at profit. £10 10/ to £13; others, backward. £7 to £0 10,'. Bulb, £4 10/ to £9 2/6 according to size and quality. Beef.—Prime eteeve. £9 2/6 to £14; cows and heifers, choice quality, £8 10/ to £10 15/: lighter, £6 10/ to £7 10/. Stores were in keen demand and sold readily. Two-year-old steers. £7 12/ to £8 Iβ'; freeli and very forward three and four-year-olds, £8 11/ to £10 17/; cows, £4 17/6 to £5 12/6; Jersey heifer calvee, £3 to £4 10/.
