CATTLE DOG OR "POM."

OWNERS' COSTLY DISPUTE.

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) PAPAKURA, this day.

A dispute concerning the breed of a dog cost R. Pilkington and E. Slater £1 7/6 at the Papakura Police Court to-day. Pilkington was manager for Slater, and evidence was given that they had a dog which they applied to register with the Manukau County Council as a cattle dog. The inspector maintained it was a Pomeranian, and therefore liable to a higher fee. It was admitted that the breed of the dog was somewhat mixed, but Pilkington refused to register it as a "Pom," and a summons was issued. Defendants were ordered to pay costs, £1 7/6.
