During a big religious fair at Saugor at the mouth of the Hooghly River (Bengal) 200 lives were lost ' when a boat load of 700 pilgrims capsized in a rough sea, while crossing the river mouth, owing to the pilgrims becoming panic stricken and crossing from one side of the boat to another.
