SHEEP SKiNS WANTED,

At the auction of hides and sheep skins this afternoon in the Chamber of Commerce, Swanson Street, prices for skins were regulated by the wool on them. Competition for sheep skins was keen and ■rood prices ruled. Hides met with little demand and prices eased. Many lots were passed in, as the bids were below vendors' ideas of values.

Quotations are:— Dry sheep skins, halfbred, to 15% d per lb; tine crossbred. 14M:d: short to half wool, \\Yu\: quarter wool. 10% d; lambs, 14tl: pelts, per lb; salted skins, best, 10/4 to 11/6 each; good, 8/ to 8/6; medium, 6 10 to 7/6; poor, 4/; and salted pelts, 4/6. Hides—Heavy ox. 7%d to per lb; medium ox, 7d to 7 l Ad; heavy cfcw, VAd; medium and light cow, 7V*d to yearling. 8d to 9d; best calf, 16% d; good calf, 14% d to 15d; inferior and damaged, 8 Mid to lOVzd.

Tallow.—Best mixed, 32/ per cwt; med ium, 28/; and poor, 24/.
