The Hawk then drew out and Vertigern put in his claim half a furlong from home. Vertigern noon settled The Hawk and beat him by a length, with Papatu a head away J third. Talisker, Royal Saxon, Set Sail, Yoma, Catkin and Pink Xote were next. Another Favourite Scores. Crown Area was solidly supported for the Anniversary Handicap, with Toxetima and Ruaniti also well backed. Crown Area was first out, but was immediately headed by Panther, while Inferno, Toxeiima, Borsaline and Ruanui were next. At the five-furlong post. Inferno had charge from Borsaline, Panther. Tcheka and Toxeuma. Inferno and Borsaline wert' first into the straight, followed by Apache, Toxeuma, King Midas. Ruanui and Crown Area. The last-named then put in a fast run and was up with the leaders at the false rail, going on to w lo J>2!.tthree-quarters of a length from Rtianuij who came fast over the last bit. Apache and Toxeuma dead-heated for third place, a length and a-half away, with Tcheka, Full Feather, Borsaline and Midas next. Surprise in Sprint.
