TENNIS.

WAIRARAPA TOURNEY.

THE SINGLES TITLES.

(By Telegraph.-—Own Correspondent.)

MASTERTON, this day.

The North Island and Wairarapa tennis championships were continued today. Results:—

Men's Singles;—Malfroy beat France, 6—l, 6—3, 4—6, 6—4. This proved a fine contest, both executing great scoring shots. Malfroy repeatedly came to the net, but France was not drawn from his position on the baseline. The fourth set provided brilliant tennis, there being two particularly hard-fought games, during which there were great rallies. Malfroy was more accurate down the sideline, when France was played out of position.

Ladies' Singles.—Miss Marjorie Macfarlane beat Miss Myers, 3 —6, 6—3, o—2. This was a sterling game, with high-grade tennis all through. The third set was conspicuous for corner to corner deep driving by both players.
