Of the many meetings outside the province which attract the attention of Aucklanders are those provided by the Taranaki Jockey Club. The approaching autumn gathering is fixed for February 7 and 9 and a first-class programme has been drawn up. The Taranaki Cup (H miles) carries £750, the Paul Memorial (1* miles) £400, and the Taranaki Stakes (six furlongs) £400. These are the chief items, but the prize money all round is substantial.
