ENCOURAGING INDICATIONS.

The provision of a permanent water supply for the Mangere riding was reported on at to-day's meeting of the Manukau County Council.

The engineer. Mr. J. R, Page, stated that the sinking of the shaft for purposes of locating a permanent supply had reached a depth of (53ft; a strata of water-bearing rock had been encountered and indications for success were good. The rook now being worked through was very hard and the use of a portable compressor for the purpose of further sinking had been authorised.
