HIGHER FREIGHTS.

Importers Decide To Await

Replies.

OUTWARD CARGO AFFECTED. (Received 11.: JO n.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. The Victorian Importers' Association h«e decided to await replies to inquiries regarding the shipping freights sent by the Prime Minister, Mr. Bruce, to the Australian and New Zealand Merchants' Association in London before taking further action. Private cables received in Melbourne indicate that the proposed increases apply to cargo from Britain to Australia.

The only reply received from London also indicates that the freights are in respect of outward cargo only.
