ROTOWHERO DESTROYED.
HOX. WILFORD LOSH6 USEFUL
PERFORMER
(By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.")
WELLINGTON, this day
Rotowhero injured a fetlock at Trentham this morning and it was found necessary to destroy him. Rotowhero was a four-year-old gelding by Gasbag from Sartovna, owned by the Hon. T. M. Wilford and trained by J. Ayres. He first came into prominence by winning the Puhi Maiden Plate at his first start at the Otaki spring meeting in 1927 and paying a thumping dividend. His form since then has proved moderate, but he won three more races last season and was several times placed. On New Year's Day at Tauherenikau he again entered the winning list, running second in another start on the same day. Rotowhero was a useful gelding and his loss is distinctly bad luck for Mr. Wilford.
