Y.W.C.A. CONFERENCE.
The general conference of the Y.W.C.A. at Martou ended last week, after a series of sessions. The recommendation? from the Y.W.CA. federation of Senior Clubs were thoroughly discussed. The etateinent of income and ex[>eiidiiure for the 11 month? ended November 10 was presented by Miss I. Holmes, hon. treasurer, and adopted.
It was agreed that a convention lie held in SopteinlKM. l'J2!>. as manv responsible members find it difficult to attend a Mimnier convention. It was emphasised that each association should l>e represented on the National Board by two members. one of whom must' lie a younger woman actively engaged in the programme activities of that centre.
In order that New Zealand might W brought into line with the rest of the world regarding interest in industrial problems, it was decided to ask the present Dunedin industrial committee to act as national industrial committee and keep in touch with the local units to be formed.
Durinjr the day greetings were received from overseas from the World"* Office staff, and the Y.W.C.A. of Wales. Finland. Denmark, Panama, and Czecho Slovakia.
A final banquet was given, with Miss Jean Begg, of the Auckland Association, as genial toast-mistress. The tables were formed in the shape of a triangle, and the decorations were most effective. The closing of the conference took the form of a service of song, followed by an impressive address by Miss Ethel Law. the nationnl secretary. Within the next few hours the delegates were homeward bound, each one earning with her a new vision of the purpose of the association, not only in New Zealand, but throughout the world.
