WOMAN SAVES MAN.
DROWNING AVERTED. BOAT DRIFTED FROM THEM. RESCUERS' TIMELY ARRIVAL. (Ry Telegraph.—Prose Association.) ROTORUA. this day. While bathing from a l>oat in Lake Rotorua yesterday, Miss MaeDonald, a eheini«t'3 assistant, and Mr. Wells, a taxi driver, had a narrow escape from drowning. Their boat drifted away, and Mr. Wells became exhausted, Mis s MacDbnald, a powerful swimmer, supported him for a long time. Another party, seeinrr the empty boat drifting at Koutu. made for the spot, and saw no sign of the occupants, but at last Miss Mac Donald's cries directed them, and Mr. Wells, semi-conscious, was taken into the rescuers' boat. Miss MacDonald's plucky fight undoubtedly >aved his life. They were taken to the houseboat, ami medical aid was sought. After restoratives had !»(■<.„ applied they were able to proceed home.
