SWIMMING.
CHAMPIONS AT WELLINGTON. DOMINION RECORD FOR 100 YDS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Sunday. The Wellington Centre of the New Zealand Swimming Association held a championship carnival yesterday in fine weather in the Te Aro baths. There was a large attendance. Following are the results :— IOOYds Centre Championship.—W. Cameron, 1 : C. Claridge, 2: J. Blakeley, 3. Time. 56 4-ss. a New Zealand record. IOOYds Ladies' Championship.—Miss K. Miller. Time, 75 l-se. 440 Yds Centre Championship.—C. Claridjre, 1; C. Rix Trott, 2; G. Blakeley, 3. Won by 25yds. PONSONBY CLUB. Sports were held on Saturday at the Shelly Beach Bathe under" the auspices of the Ponsonby Swimming Club. There was a large attendance.
The 51. 2-3 yds race wae in three heats. Results:— First Heat. —Plank 1, Neale and Bunting (dead heat) 2. Second Heat. —Kepsing (West Coast) 1. Lynch and Lane (dead heat) 2. Time, 20 4-ss. Third Heat. —R. Moore 1, Johnston and D. Keane (dead heat) 2. Time, 29 3-ss. Final-: Plank 1 Eeesing 2 Moore 3 Time, 27 l-ss. A polo match took place between teams from H.M.s. Diomede and tho I'onsonby Swimming Club. It resulted in a draw, Foster scoring a goal for Ponsonby, and Walker one for H.M.s. Diomedo. Fancy diving was a popular item on the programme.
