THAMES RACES.

CONCLUDING DAY'S SPORT.

FOOTPAD'S FIRST WIN. COUNTY HIGH-WEIGHT TO GLENSTAR. The annual meeting of the Thames Jockey Club, opened on Saturday at the Parawai course, is being brought to a close to-day. The weather is gloriously fine and the attendance is large. Favourite Gets Second. High Tide, Princess Snow, and Charitaine were withdrawn from the Kopu Handicap which opened the programme. Envoy was made favourite, carrying £315", The Jack Juniper being second choice with £237 on his chance. The favourite ran well, but was beaten in a close finish by Footpad, the third favourite. At the start Swiftflight and Footpad began best but Swiftflight soon lost his portion and with just over a furlong covered Royal Lover was the leader from Footpad, The Jack Juniper, Claremore, Swiftflight and Crown Arch. Racing across the top stretch, Envoy improved his position and the order turning for home was Royal Lover, Swiftflight, Dainty Manners, Footpad, Crown .Arch and Envoy. A great race ensued to the judge and in an exciting finish Goldfinch landed Footpad a winner by half a head, with Dainty Manners a head away. Land Measure, Swiftflight, Royal Lover, Crown Arch and Gold Lily followed.

Glenstar Scores. Whaka Kinjr and Mangani were the course withdrawals from the County High-weight and Bizarro, the winner o"f a similar class event on Saturday, was made favourite. He carried £437, or £14 more than Glenstar, while the third choice was Mashoor. Glenstar and Bizarro were the early leaders from Mashoor. Ramblin , Kid* War Officer ami Master Roley. There was little alteration in the order, but crossing the top Glenstar drew out clear from Bizarro and led into the straight, where Mashoor was third and War Officer next. In the run home Glenstar had matters all his own way and won very comfortably by four lengths from the favourite. War Officer was four lengths behind Bizatro, followed by Mashoor, Master Roley, Ramblin' Kid and Foxhound.

Favourites Beaten. The withdrawals of Takutama, Good Boy and Footpad reduced the field in the Turua Handicap to eight. Musaie was made a good favourite, carrying £683, Princess Rain being supported to the extent of £330 and Roman Pearl £290. Roman Pearl and Arihana began best and led from Flying Tresses, Princess Rain and Mussie. Throe furlongs from home Arihana was out in front with Flying Tressec, others handy being Mussie, Princess Rain, Roman Pearl and High Tide. The last-named was third behind Arihana and Roman Pearl entering the straight and in a good race to the judge High Tide beat Roman Pearl by a short neck. Mussie was three lengths away, followed by Arihana, Dainty Arch, High Rose and Princess Rain. Results:—
