WANGANUI RIVER.
ACCESS TO BEAUTY SPOTS. NINE MILES OF METALLING. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) TAUMARUNUI, this day. An effort is being made to obtain a giant to metal the Wanganui River road from Tenia ire to the houseboat. It is understood that the Highways Board realises the importance of this main highway as an outlet for the settlers along the river, and for the convenience of tourists who desire to view the beauty spots of the upper reaches. A contract has now been l«t to Mcv-r*. J. R. Powell and H. D. Xairn by the Public Works Department for the metalling of nine miles of the road from the Tenia ire Bridge to the Kokokonui landing. The work is to be completed within 12 weeks.
