HOLY YEAR.

Jubilee Of Pope Pius' First Mass. PLENARY INDULGENCE. ("Times" Cables.) LONDON, January 11. Tln> Koine correspondent of the "Times" says Pope Pius announces that the year li)2J>, which marks the jubilee of his first Mass, shall be considered a holy year with "extra oiclinein." He accordingly grants during the year a plenary indulgence on four conditions. First, the faithful residing in tho Diocese of Koine and pilgrims dwelling in the city must I twice visit three named basi-

licas, in order to pray particularly for the conversion of sinners and tin' extirpation of heresy and schism, the peace and concord of princes, and the prosperity and freedom of the K oman Catholic Church and its* head. If persons are prevented by distance or other legitimate reason from

complying, their confessors may commute them for visits to their parish church. Secondly, additional fasts must be observed. Thirdly, they must make additional confessions, and partake of extra communions.

Fourthly, they must make charitable offerings according t<) their means, and according to their confessor's advice, such offerings to be made for important work —for example, the propagation and preservation of the faith.

The jubilee indulgence may be earned several times, but additional indulgence* must be for the benefit of souls in purgatory. The Pope says he believe* the faithful should hasten to avail themselves of this precious spiritual opportunity for morals, faith and Christian piety.
