ATTEMPTED BRIBERY.
ACCUSED COMMITTED
SYDNEY, December 25
Michael Fitzgibbons was committed for trial on the charge of having attempted to bribe the Chief Secretary, Mr. A. Bruntnell, with an offer of £200, in connection with the recommendation of a certain bus route.
Arthur Cooper, superintendent of the public service telephones, said in evidence that he was present at a meetin™ between Fitzgibbona and Major M. L. Jaryie, a Nationalist member of the Legislative Assembly, when Major Jarvie admitted that he had received £300 in addition to the £200 mentioned. Jarvie said he was holding this £300 "up his sleeve."
Fitzgibbons wanted it back, and later the witness received it on his behalf, as Jarvie did. not wish that they should be seen together. .
