RESUSCITATION" OF CLUBS

WELLINGTON, Monday

Matter* of interest to oarsmen were dealt with at a meeting of the council of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association.

Mr. Inncs was re-elected chairman of the council for the ensuing year.

An invitation was received from the West Australian Association for a fouroared crew to compete at the centenary regatta to be held at Perth, on 11th May. The West Australian Association offered £150 towards the expenses of the crew. Owing to the expense involved, it was regretfully decided not to accent the invitation. It was stated that over and above the £1.10 offered the expenses would amount to £3-10, the cost being £102 per head, without a coxswain. The Napier Rowing Club wrote advising that it had been re-formed, and applying for affiliation. The matter was deferred to await further information, with the idea of re-establishing the Hawke's Bay Association, or the j East Coast Association. The secretary i was instructed to take up the matter i again with the Gisborne Club.

An application for affiliation was also received from the North E.v-t Harbour Rowing Club. Dunedin. The application wa.-j approved, the club to be attached to the Otago Rowing Association. The new club's colours are royal blue singlet, with a gold star on back and front, the star being 9in in width.

Correspondence was received from the Southland Rowing Association stating that the annual meeting had been held, and that steps were being taken to re-organ>e the association. The letter written by the secretary to the association advising that it- «u*pen-

.;ii»ii could not be removed till year's subscription had been paid was confirmed. Authority wa« given to the secretary to remove the suspension immediately the payment was 'made.

Messrs. H. Paton and A. D. Bayfield were appointed tne council's representatives upon the Olympic Council.

The secretary's letter to the Nelson Sea Scout Club and the Kawatiri Club, relative to the re-formation of the Nelson Rowing Association was confirmed. It was suggested by the Westport authorities that the Nelson Association should be re-formed, with headquarters at Westport.

The resignation of Mr. *R. G. Duncan (Wellington) from the council, consequent upon his transfer to Sydney, was received with regret, and appreciation of Mr. Duncan's services wa* expressed by members. Mr. B. A. Marris was appointed to the vacancy. Mr. Duncan was appointed the council's official representative in Svdnev.
