BRAVE MAORI BOY.
RIDES INTO SURF.
YOUNG WOMAN RESCUED,
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) RAGLAN, this day.
Sensational circumstances attended the rescue of a young woman from drowning by a Maori boy, Martin Kerconau, aged 13, at Raglan on Christmas Eve. The young woman went out in a dinghy with a companion. They began to drift towards the sea. She became alarmed, jumped overboard and tried to swim ashore. She was in difficulties, when young Kereopau rode a pony into the surf, pulled the girl across the saddle and brought her to the beach. She was unconscious, but revived after a doctor had given her attention. The dinghy was picked up by a launch.
It is intended to bring young Kereopau's action before the notice of the Royal Humane Society.
