THE CHIEF JUSTICE.
RETURNING TO DUTY.
RECOVERED FROM ILLNESS. MAKING PLANS FOR FUTURE. The Chief Justice, Sir Charles Skerrett, anticipates that he will be able to resume his scat on the Supreme Court Bench on February 1, after the long vacation. Those who have visited Sir Charles at his home at Lowry Bay, Wellington, state that the Chief Justice is remarkably well, and although his long illness,, extending over many months of the present year, resulted in the amputation of both legs, he is most optimistic regarding the future. Months of pain and confinement to bed have not robbed Sir Charles of his interest in affairs generally, and when visited the other day he was busy making plans for the work of the New Year. Bench and bar, and the public generally, will accord the Chief Justice an enthusiastic welcome when he makes his return.
