AVIATOR'S CLEVER LANDING.
PILOT USES HIS SHADOW.
A freak accident, which left a wheel dangling below his plane, presented a dangerous landing problem for Clark Wing, a Seattle pilot, which he solved bv a display of clever manoeuvring. The snapping of a strut bolt permitted the right wheel to dangle just as he took off. Unconscious of the accident, ho soared aloft with a student and another passenger. The accident was observed on the field and a plane raced up with two pilots, one of whom dangled a wheel in his hand as an indication to Wing of what happened. Pilot Wing came down slowly, manoeuvring his plane in the sun until the shadow cast on the field indicated the nature of the damage Circling the second time, he landed with the nose well up and settled with a ground loodj safely^
