MARTIN'S MISTAKE.
KICKED AT SERGEANT.
FOOT INJURED BY GLASS.
After being arrested in Hobson Street yesterday afternoon for being drunk, Thomas Martin (52) resented being taken into custody and struggled violently. He tried to kick Sergeant Clark, who was placing him in a taxi, Tout his foot went through the glass eide windows of the car. As a result it was badly cut, the police surgeon having to put in three stitches. Martin could not walk into the Court this morning, so painful waa his foot. "When charged with committing mischief by wilfully damaging the taxi windows to the extent of £2, and also with a breach of his prohibition order, Martin said he did not remember anything about these matters. "He's a loafer and a quarrelsome man" was the description given Martin by the police. Accused was convicted on all charges and waa ordered , to pay for the damage, while for breach of hii order he was fined £5 or one month's imprisonment.
