AMERICAN BUDGET.
Estimated Surplus For year Of £7200. WAR VETERANS' BUREAU. (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) WASHINGTON, December 5. The President, Mr. Coolidge, yesterday submitted the 1929-30 Budget to Congress. The estimated receipts are £768,200,000 and the expenditure £756,000,000. The largest items of expenditure are £119,400,000 for the war veterans' bureau; £69,800,000 for the Navy Department; and £88,800,000 for the War Department. The President said that whereas it had been feared that the year 1928-29 would show a deficit of £18,800,000 it was now estimated that there wouid bo a surplus for that year of £7200. This was due to the fact that the returns from revenue were larger than was expected.
