BIRKENHEAD DRAINAGE.
SCHEME TO COST £50,000. APPLICATION TO LOANS BOARD. The Birkenhead Borough Council last evening, on the motion of the Mayor (Mr. E. G. Skeates), decided to seek the sanction of the Local Government Loans Board to borrow £50,000 for the purpose of installing a sewerage scheme for the portion of the borough eastward of Rosebery Avenue. Mr. F. E. Powell wrote that the Harbour Board would not agree to vary the condition as to time of discharge of sludge, but pointed out that the board's officers could always be communicated with by telephone.
