MUNICIPAL BAND EVENING.

The Town Hall concert chamber, decorated with gaily coloured flags and bright lights, looked attractive last evening when a social and dance was held by the bandmaster and members of the Auckland Municipal Band to celebrate the fourth anniversary of its inauguration. Green swinging baskets of fern were suspended around the walls, and from the centre of the ceiling strings of coloured lights, radiating from a basket of lights, were looped to the sides of the hall. The stage was banked with masses of greenery and flowering pot plants and lit with bright lights gave a very pleasant effect. Dancing to excellent music was enjoyed, and a number of very pretty frocks were worn. Amongst those who were present were: Mrs. Christopher Smith, who wore a frock of black lace over petunia, with shawl to match; Mrs. J. S. Brigham, frock of black lace with pastel blue shawl; Mrs. J. Johnson, powder blue georgette; Mrs. Cocker, apricot crepe de chine; Mrs. H. M. Doull, vieux rose crepe de chine with multi-coloured trimming; Mrs. T. Andrew, pale green crepe fleuri; Mrs. J. Bennett, cyclamen silk frock; Mrs. J. Brockbank, black tulle frilled frock; Mrs. E. Elder, black marocain with beige relief; Mrs. H. During the evening enjoyable items were given by Miss Alma McGruer and Mr. Stan Pritchard x who sang; Miss Theo. Halpin (pianoforte solo), Mr. Alan McEhvain (humour), Mr. Phil Lye (saxophone solo), Mr. Fred Bowes (cornet solo), Mr. H. C. McLennan (flute solo), and Mr. Birrell O'Malley (tenor). The accompanists were Mrs. A. Ripley, Miss T. Halpin, and Mr. R. Potter.
