PARNELL BATHS.

Being a visitor to the city of Auckland, and wishing to see the sights in general, I made a visit to the much-talked-about ParneH baths. There I made inquiries what one does with any valuables, and to my eurprise I found these are handed over to the caretaker, who takes have, but unfortunately you do not receive a receipt for what you have handed over. The caretaker is placed in th» unfortunate position of being responsible for valuables handed over to him, and he has to use_ his memory in returning the various articles. Of course people say why take anything of value to the baths, but a stranger does not expect to. find such a lack at facilities as this in a* place the eize of Auckland. Why, even in Wellington you can go to the baths and for the sum of one penny you can get a locker, to which you have a key, so that you can securely put your money, ett, in safe keeping. The locker system in Welling, ton must be a paying proposition; of course they take an interest in their baths. Another matter of bad management is the dressing sheds. All the men are herded together in one shed, and I left my clothes in this shed whilst bathing. On returning I found to mv disgust that some gentleman had departed with my shoes, which I had purchased about a week ago, not a cheap pair, either. I understand there has been quite a number of thefts, yet nothing has been done to stop them. Why do not some of the council visit other towns where baths are run in a proper wav and get a few ideas? TOURIST.
