ALMOST COIfFTRMED CXUMUfAX. TWO MONTHS , HARD LABOUR. (By Telegraph. — Own Correapondent.i HAMILTON, this day. Posing as a nephew of the late Judge Cooper, Frederick Trenowath (28), obtained board and lodging at the Central Dining Rooms to the value of £6. Hβ formerly worked for a relative of the late Judge Cooper, and he had also been employed by Mr. T. W. MaeDonald, who gave him a letter to post. This he, opened and extracted a postal note for 3/10. To-day he was charged with fraud and theft. Trenowath, who had been before the Court on three previous occasions, had £300 to his credit in the Pnbtie Trust. The magistrate, Mr. Wyvern Wilson, said accused had other convictions against him and did not appear to have appreciated leniency. He was on the borderline ot becoming a confirmed criminal.
