UNFAIR TACTICS.

MR. DONALD COMPLAINS.

STORY OF THE HINDU.

Throughout his campaign Mr. J. B. Donald, United candidate for Auckland Central, has been constantly reminded of an advertisement which appeared in an Auckland newspaper, inviting Hindu tlaxcutters to apply to Messrs. A. B. Donald, Limited.

On several occasions the candidate has sought to show that the advertisement is being used with a view to making party capital out of the incident. "That advertisement had nothing whatever to do with myself or my firm," stated Mr. Donald in the Parnell Library hall last night.

''The facts are that the Maori caretaker on the firm's farm at Ohinewai advertised for flaxcutters. The advertisement stated that six cutters were required, that applicants should apply to A. B. Donald, Limited, telephone 17, Ohinewai, and that Hindus were preferred. After the advertisement appeared, the statement was contradicted and the public was advised that the firm had nothing to do with the insertion of the advertisement.

'"At this juncture, my political opponents are using that advertisement for political purposes," said Mr. Donald. "They are alleging that the advertisement was inserted with the authority of the firm, which is contrary to fact. Such tactics are as mean as they are unfair."
