PETER BINGEN AGAIN.

WORLD'S RECORD IN FREE-FOR-ALL WRACKLER LIFTS DERBY STAKES. ELZEAR AND LOGAN CHIEF FINAL VICTORS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. The New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club's meeting was continued today in fine but windy weather. The course was fast. The attendance was fair and the totalisator investments were £40,247 10/ compared with £44,039 on the corresponding day last year. I Peter Bingen broke the world's record I for a mile and a-quarter in winning the Free-tor-All in 2.38 4-5, the previous best time being 2.40 1-5. All the placcd horses, even the fourth, broke the record. E. C. McDermott was fined £10 for not driving his horse, Nourmahal, out in the Whiteleigh Handicap.

Vesuvius Nicely. Rebel, Ariki and Avenger failed to go off right and at the end of a furlong Harold Burwood had a long lead on Jean McElwyn and Orphan, who were at the head of the next bunch. After going half-a-mile Harold Burwood was twelve lengths in front of Orphan, with Epigram, Jean McElwyn, Firelight and Vesuvius following in that order. Harold Burwood still had a lead of ten lengths at the mile post and he was five lengths in front at the start of the last lap, where Vesuvius had taken second place. Vesuvius joined Harold Burwood in the lead three furlongs from home where Trimmer moved into third, place a length away, with Firelight and Jean McElwyn close up. Vesuvius led Trimmer, Firelight and Jean McElwyn to the straight. Vesuvius easily held his place and won by a length from Firelight, who finished fast and beat Trimmer by two lengths for second place. Jean McElwyn was a length further back. Times, 4.26 2-5, 4.26 4-5, 4.26 1-5. Lingfield Beaten. Lingfield was a warm order in a one dividend field. Dundas Boy led for a furlong, where Lingfield took charge. When half a mile had been covered Lingfield was just in front of Dundas Boy, with Chimer, Kotuku Jack, and Harvest Child just behind them. Chimer ran up to Lingfield at the end of a mile, and these two showed the way until three furlongs from home, where Lingfield went on from Dundas Boy. There was not much between this pair at the entrance to the straight, where Dundas Boy went on to win easily by three lengths. Harvest Child was three lengths further back, with Chimer fourth. Times: 4.42 3-5, 4.42 1-5, 4.39. Peter Bingen Right on Job. Peter Bingen and Jewel Pointer were smartest out in the Free-for-AU, followed by Great Bingen and Prince Pointer, white Native Chief got off badly. At the end of two furlongs Peter Bingen was two lengths in front of Jewel Pointer, with Great Bingen two lengths further back, one length in front of Prince Pointer. They ran with little change till two furlongs fronj home, where Prince Pointer commenced to move up. Peter Bingen was weU clear at the entrance to the straight, but Prince Bointer finished with a great run, and Peter Bingen only beat him by a head. Jewel Pointer was three lengths away, a neck in front of Great Bingen. Times: 2.38 4-5, 2.39, 2.35 2-5.

Good Finish After Bad Start. In the Sockburn Handicap Elzear lost some ground by breaking at the start, while Little Logan broke badly after going half a furlong. Duke Bingeni went off with a good lead, followed by Maxegin, who broke after going two fnrlongF. Passing the stand Duke Bingen was a dozen lengths in front of Kola Boy, with Maxegin a similar distance away. At the mile post Duke Bingen was only three lengths in front of Kola Boy, with Maxegin and Elzear forty yards away. The last-named pair closed up the gap running alonsr the straight, and passed the stand within half a dozen length? of Kola Bov, with Duke Bingen still four lengths in front. Kola Boy broke in the back stretch, and three furlongs from home Duke Bingen was four lengths in front of Elzear, with Maxegin two lengths further back. Elzear put in a strong run on reaching the straight, and beat Duke Binsren by three lengths. "Maxegin was eight lengths awav with Peter" Swift fourth. Times: 4.28 2-5, 4.36. 4 37.

Logap Chief Wins by a Head. Native Prince broke at the start of the Boval Handicap, and Talent went on from Zenith, with Native Prince and Golden Devon next. The order was the same until six furlongs had been covered, when Native Prijjce broke again. Going along the hack Talent showed the way to Zenith and Golden Devon, with Taiero heading the others. Talent lea Golden Devon to the straight, where Lo«an Chief put in a strong run and -ot up in the last stride to win by a head. Golden Devon was a lenjrth away, with Taiero a neck further back. Times: 2.40 3-5, 2.44 4-5, 2.43.
